How many candidates move forward in an IT selection process? The iTRecruiter recruitment funnel in numbers
Over the last three months, our internal recruitment system, Diana, processed 4,970 applications. This total volume of applications for tech roles reveals the reality of our IT recruitment funnel, where each stage acts as a necessary filter to find the ideal match between talent and client.
Analyzing these numbers isn't just about filling reports. It is about showing, with honesty, the scale of the challenge we face daily while managing thousands of technical profiles. Looking at this data means understanding that specialized recruitment is a game of precision.
At which stage do most applications fall by the wayside?
Our data shows that 1,587 applications were rejected in the initial period, representing 32% of the total. This number does not indicate a failure, but rather the rigor required for the positions we open. The funnel follows a clear distribution: 1,609 applications are in the suggestion stage and 1,081 are in screening. These two phases account for the majority of the initial volume, totaling 54% of all entries in the system.
It is natural that the vast majority of people do not move forward. The funnel narrows drastically as technical requirements become more specific and the need for alignment with the company culture increases.
For those seeking an opportunity in technology, these numbers serve as an important heads-up. The process is highly competitive and every detail on the resume counts. For companies, this data reinforces that efficient screening is the heart of an IT selection process. It is not about volume, but about the ability to identify, among thousands of entries, the few profiles that truly possess the technical and human combination necessary for success in the role.
